Breville Smart Ovens, Including Two Models with Air Frying

Breville Smart Ovens, Including Two Models with Air Frying

Breville ovens really are smart. I bought the original 9 function Smart Oven in 2010, and loved it from the first time I used it. Soon my full-sized oven was starting to get resentful, and for good reason. The Breville preheated faster, kept a more even temperature, and offered more functions than its full-sized cousin.

Another thing I really love about these ovens is the timer. It counts down and turns the oven off when the time is reached. Set it for and hour, and in 60 minutes the oven turns off automatically and beeps. This feature alone has saved many meals at our house.

All Breville Smart Ovens feature Element iQ® heating elements along with toast, bagel, bake, broil, roast, pizza, cookie, and reheat functions. My original Smart Oven could toast 6 slices at once, cook a 13” pizza, fit a 6-cup muffin tin as well as a 12” x 12” pan, and included convection. It also had a useful warm function. It really changed how we cook.

A couple of years ago I upgraded to a newer model, the Smart Oven Pro. Mostly because it offered what I felt was the only thing lacking from my model, an interior light. It also added slow cook to its line-up of 9 pre-set functions, which made us and my Dutch Oven happy. I gave my beloved and well-used original Smart Oven to a friend.

Breville Smart OvensTo this day, the Pro still lives up to our expectations. Like our old Smart Oven, it can toast 6 slices of bread and cook a 13” pizza, but it’s a full inch and a half deeper, allowing it to fit a 9-cup muffin tray and easily roast a whole chicken. At $280 it's one of the best kitchen investments I’ve made. That said, our built-in oven and I are no longer on speaking terms.

Kitchen Kapers carries five Breville Smart Oven models with a size for every kitchen and a model for every cook.

The Breville Mini Smart Oven is under 18” long and just under 13” deep, with a low height of only 10.5”, perfect for smaller households and kitchens. The Compact Smart Oven is about the same size as the Mini. It adds the warming function and an inch to its height. Both will toast 4 slices and hold a 6-cup muffin pan comfortably and both are currently under 200 bucks.

We no longer carry the original Smart Oven that started my love affair with Breville kitchen appliances because the Pro is only $10 more and it's similar in size, has a bit more interior room, an interior light, plus the slow cook function. The Smart Oven Pro is a much better deal.

The two newest Breville Smart Ovens feature super convection technology, making them fully functioning air fryers.  Higher temperatures combined with super convection (maximized air flow) deliver delicious, crispy, golden air fried foods without excess fat, nor the stink and mess that comes from deep-fat frying indoors. Make over 2 pounds of French fries. Air fry chicken wings just the way you like them. And, if that's not enough to convince you, here’s five more reasons you're gonna love air frying in your Breville Smart Oven.

The Smart Oven Air Fryer is around $350, about $70 more than the Pro and has all the same features with the addition of air-frying. It’s an inch and a half deeper, allowing it to fit a larger 4-quart Dutch oven for slow cooking.

Both Smart Ovens with air frying let you bake or roast with regular convection or super convection. The super convection setting reduces cooking time by up to 30%.

The Smart Oven Air at $400 is for the cook who wants a countertop oven that can roast and bake for large gatherings, air fry crispy French fries and other family favorites, proof dough and dehydrate a wide range of healthy foods. The large, 1 cubic ft, interior makes room for toasting 9 slices of bread, roasting a 14-lb turkey, slow cooking with a 5-quart Dutch oven, and will comfortably fit most 9"x13" pans and 12 cup muffin trays. At an impressive 21.5” L X 17.2” D X 12.8” H, the Smart Oven Air isn’t for everybody, but that’s why there’s the Air Fryer model.

Breville Smart Oven Air

Breville's feature-packed countertop Smart Ovens are impressive. With five models, from the Mini to the Pro and two models that feature built-in air frying, what are you waiting for?

I'm dying to upgrade to the Smart Oven Air. I just have to find another friend in need of a great, gently used Breville Pro oven.

Enjoy! -Frankie
